For the grand Southern loop, the Himalayan is the perfect choice. Its generous low-end torque allows you to smoothly tackle the volcanic red laterite of the coffee plantations. Its outstanding saddle comfort and upright riding posture turn the road connections from Vientiane into pure pleasure.
Departure from our logistics base in Vientiane. Heading South to reach the foothills of the Bolovens Plateau. Instant high-altitude riding surrounded by lush vegetation, featuring a grand stop at the impressive Tad Fane twin falls (120m drop) before spending the night in Paksong.
Leave the asphalt behind to test your suspension on red dirt agricultural trails, weaving through the heart of the famous Arabica coffee plantations. By late afternoon, join the splendid and relaxing Tad Lo valley.
Morning riding to meet the Katou ethnic villagers. Cultural stop at Ban Houay Houn village to observe ancestral local weaving techniques, followed by a fun and technical off-road riding session in the surrounding forests.
Final intense kilometers on the forest trails of the plateau before reaching the plain bordering the Mekong River. Fast-paced linear ride back to Vientiane for the bike checkout at the RideInLaos garage.
Explore red dirt landscapes and spectacular waterfalls captured during our field scouting in the South.

Weather & Soil: The plateau traps moisture easily. The volcanic red laterite dirt, while gorgeous, becomes extremely slick during tropical downpours. Keep proper tire pressure margins and adjust braking anticipation ahead of off-road tracks.
