Since the Thakhek Loop transitions back and forth between pristine open pavement, rugged ridge links, and dirt paths, the Rally is the ideal choice. Its great fuel economy, wind shielding, and progressive long-travel suspension make it an absolute favorite.
Morning bike checkout at our Vientiane garage. Route 13 asphalt stretch alongside the Mekong down to Thakhek town. Quick transition into sandy local trails and stopover at Tham Xang Cave before arriving in Mahaxay.
Memorable winding tarmac curves climbing towards the high Nakai Plateau. Ride through the unique ghost forest landscape of sunken timber framing the hydroelectric lake. Cozy night stay at Tha Lang village.
The wildest dirt tracks segment. Carve down volcanic red tracks to cool off inside the turquoise crystal waters of the Cool Springs lagoon. Arrive in the remote valley of Kong Lor for the 7.5 km boat exploration inside the cave mountain wall.
Final long road section. Ride across the stunning mountain ridges via the Limestone Forest Viewpoint panorama. Fast-paced return stretch back up North to checkout the bikes at our capital garage by late afternoon.
